Smart board

In my opinion, the smart board is very helpful to learning! It is a very fun way to learn things! We got some new tools for the smart board, and we used them to write tests. Tests with the Senteos are amazingly fun!!Smart boards are very good to use to present powerpoints. I remmber when we did our Novel Study, and we had some questions about the book in a gameshow format!!Whoever got the question right first got a point for their group. Mrs. Perrey then took the smart board pens and kept score on the smart board!I also liked it when we watched movies and videos on the smart board! If every classroom had a smart board, schools would be better places to be!But I have a FAVOURITE thing about the smart board, and that was writing on it! There are four different colours of markers to draw or write with.....blue, red, green, and black, and there was also an eraser. There was even something to set up that only came with the smart board. It is called Smart Notebook. It is looks cooler than a powerpoint. It is kinda hard to use at first, but we got used to it. Smart boards are very fun, educational, and interesting, and I hope we get them next year!!

My Favourite Day

I have many favourite days, but my top favourite day was Christmas Eve, 2005! My Dad sat beside me, making sure I didn’t peek. My Mom came in the front door holding a gift bag. I heard a noise that said, “Meow!” I was wondering what was making that noise. Ashton, my brother, handed me the gift bag. I opened it without delay! Inside was an adorable, fuzzy, white kitten with a black spot on her head!! I instantly decided to name her Snowangel. I was SO happy that I could not sleep that night! When morning came, and we woke up, we opened our presents. Snowangel got some really cool stuff! She got a pink blanket, a hot pink collar with bells, clothes, a pink carrying case, a scratching post and a lot more!

After we opened gifts, we went to Grandma’s and Grandpa’s house. Snowangel came with us, and she meowed and meowed the whole way there. Snowangel didn’t like car rides! When we got to our Grandparents house, we opened a lot more gifts. We stayed there all day. Meeka and Meow are Grandma and Grandpa’s cats. They were humongous compared to my kitten, but nobody cared! She was the best pet that I have ever had, but, sadly, we had to put her down as a kitten.

How to Baby-sit For 10 Kids

Hello, my name is Courtney. I am 24 years old. I would like to tell you how to baby-sit for 10 kids. I baby-sat for 10 kids on Saturday night, from 4:00 pm until 2:00 am. I was VERY tired. I had to go to their house on 2703 Partridge Crescent, in Regina, Saskatchewan. The mother had to rush her 3-year-old to the hospital (she had fallen off the couch and cracked her head open!), and she had called me to baby-sit. At first, I thought, okay, this will be easy, but it really wasn’t. All of the kids were screaming. Isaac wanted things that were breakable and started freaking out, Kayleigh was pulling on Tylan’s hair, and, to make matters worse, a 2-year-old started a food fight. It was CRAZY!!! It was a good thing that I had my baby-sitting course, though. I got it 10 years ago(when I was 14). I got it at a church on the outskirts of Regina. Lauren trained me. She taught me how to do CPR, and the himlick maneuver, and what to do when there is a fire, so if you want to be a baby-sitter, call 924-7381.

Top 10 tips to become a great baby-sitter!
1- If the kids are annoying you, put earplugs in!
2- If they constantly ask why you put earplugs in, tell them you can’t hear them!
3- Lock them in the bathroom if they be bad!
4- If they eat all of their supper, give them dessert, or they will freak out!
5- If there is a fire, save yourself!
6- It’s best to baby-sit with a friend!
7- If they get stuck in a tree, call 911!
8- Don’t let them eat the goldfish!
9- Don’t let them pull the cats tail!
10- Remember not to leave them home alone, if you go out!

Water

People, animals, and every living thing need water to grow. People use water to brush their teeth, have a shower, and wash their hands, so they don’t give themselves and others germs. Water can be used to clean, drink, play, and to cook a very healthy meal. Water isn’t a want, it’s a need!
There is water in tons of places, like streams, lakes, oceans, and pools. Long Lake at Regina Beach is a very good lake to go to. People can go swimming in water, and have water fights on a hot summer day. There are lots of unique kinds of water. There is tap water, toilet water, rain water, fresh water, drinking water, dirty water, clean water, holy water, and many more.
Do you know what a watershed is? A watershed is an area of land that collects water into an outlet. The outlet in Hawaii would be the ocean. It is also an area of land where all of the water that is underneath the watershed goes into the closest outlet (lake, stream, ocean). Some of the water is absorbed by plants, and the rest is absorbed underground.
You can buy water in a plastic bottle, or drink it from a fountain. You can add different kinds of juice mixes to water to make juice. We breathe in air, but did you know that fish breathe in water? Fish don’t have lungs, so how can they breathe? Whales and dolphins have lungs to store air from the surface. The oxygen surrounding the fish contains a small percentage of dissolved oxygen. At the surface, there is about 5 milliliters of air per liter of water. That is a lot less than the 210 milliliters of air we breathe. That’s how important water is to living creatures and animals. Without water we would die!

My Christmas Holiday!

My holiday was so awesome, because I got everything on my wish list. Mom and Dad gave me some nice clothes and a whiteboard! From Dad, I got a green Roughrider jersey, Ashton, my brother, gave me a digital picture locket and my brother, Tucky, gave me earrings that he bought with his own gift card he got for being in the Baby Crawl. We opened these presents on Christmas morning. On Christmas Eve Dad’s side of the family and some friends came over. We cleaned all day before they came over. Mom cooked lots of food and we ate mostly all of it! Then we opened our presents from family. We were on a website called NORAD tracking Santa Claus all night. We went to bed at about 11:00 PM. We woke up on Christmas morning and we saw that Santa Claus came and ate all the cookies we left for him. He left our presents under our tree downstairs. We opened our presents, but Tucky was more fascinated in eating the chocolate on a plate wrapped in saran wrap with his face! I gave Mom a digital picture ornament and Dad a bottle holder. I got a laminator from Santa Claus and tickets to go to High School Musical the Ice Tour from Grandpa We went to Grandma and Grandpas for the rest of the day. I got a whole bunch of other stuff, too!

A couple days later, on New Year’s Eve, we went to Aunta’s and ordered Chinese food and played WII for a long time. We played DDR and Disney Sing It and had loads of fun. We had New Years hats and noise makers and I made Christmas crackers with my own two hands! I can’t wait until next Christmas, so we can party again!

Bob Boyer

Bob Boyer was born around Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in 1948. In the late 1960’s he started being an artist. He is best-known for his variety of blankets he made between 1983 and 1994. He is Métis. He died on August 30th, 2004. One day, in the late 1960’s without Bob even knowing, his friend signed him up for the University of Regina. Then he got a letter in the mail and decided to go. That’s how he became an artist. When we went to the art gallery, Lindsay was our tour guide. My favorite painting was one with trees that looked real, animals that look real, a beadwork border, tree roots at the bottom, and a lake in the background. Something fun we did with Lindsay was we did an activity of what we could make out of 12 circles. We also made our own art with pastels!

Ballet

When we went to the ballet I thought it was pretty good! I expected that
it would be slow music, and most of it was. I especially liked the lights and the music, but in one dance there were way too many people on the stage. I thought that the one dance was very cool. They used stools and they wore these wigs that looked like they had soap in their hair. I thought that was very neat. Another dance they used scarves and they kept passing it and passing it and passing it until the last person threw it off the stage. The other one, scurry dance, they tapped their feet while they were lying down. Something I think they should have done is make people from lots of different ages instead of the same age.
